Kalgoorlie-Boulder children are being invited to hit the dance floor for a good cause this weekend.

MT Dance is hosting a dance morning for charity on Saturday, with all ticket proceeds being donated to two organisations — the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund and Rotary’s WA Bushfire Relief Project.

Two 90-minute sessions will take place at the Goldfields Arts Centre, with the style of dance changing every 30 minutes.

Studio co-owner Cassie Tasker said the event was a fun way for children to get active during the school holidays while also helping to support those affected by this season’s bushfires.

“We already were thinking about putting something together before the students go back full time to help them get back into dancing,” she said.

“This will be a really nice way to get the kids back into the studio, start getting fit and do it all for a really good cause. It’s also a good way for the kids to come down and try a few new styles of dance as well.”

Ms Tasker said 5 per cent of all MT Dance merchandise sales on the day will also be donated.

“If kids are coming down and they need to get some new dance shoes ready for the school term or a new uniform, they can also help fundraise by buying some merch,” she said.

Children can stay for 30 minutes for $5 or $10 for 90 minutes.

The first session for children aged 10 and under starts at 9.30am and the second session for those aged 10 and over starts at 11.30am.

The sessions are also open to non-MT Dance students.
