Country towns are renowned for their delicious pastries, cakes and bread — and now a Kalgoorlie-Boulder bakery is celebrating 25 years of happily feeding people.

In central Kalgoorlie, the Goldfields French Hot Bread Shop has been family-owned and operated since it opened in 1995.

Current owner Thinh Pham took over the business in 2000 before handing over the reins to his sister in 2006.

After working in Melbourne for several years, Mr Pham returned to Kalgoorlie-Boulder about three years ago to helm the business once again.

While he said it was not an easy job, Mr Pham said he could not see himself doing anything else.

“I just love to make bread, it’s that simple,” he said.

“It’s very hard work with long hours but I like it.

“It has room to be a bit artistic with the products and I love to make a good product for customers to enjoy.

“I put a lot of hard work and my heart into this bakery.”

Mr Pham said he planned to introduce some new menu items in the coming months.

“Soon we are introducing some new grilled pork and grilled chicken Vietnamese rolls, which are very popular around Australia,” he said. “When I left Kalgoorlie, I ran a few bakeries in Melbourne and we sold a lot of Vietnamese rolls over there.

“We are very confident people will like them here because we have done this before.”

Mr Pham said the bakery had established a loyal following of customers across the years and he thanked everyone who had supported the business since it opened.

“We just wanted to say thank you to the Kalgoorlie people who have been supporting us for the last 25 years,” he said.

“We are still here and will continue to serve people.”
