“Detectives undertook an extensive and protracted investigation and recently received results from comprehensive medical examinations, which indicate the child sustained internal injuries,” Queensland Police said in a statement issued on Monday.
It will be alleged the child received the injuries at a Rosemary St address in Greenbank, south of Brisbane.
In heavily-blurred bodycam footage released by police, officers are seen smashing their way into a Cleveland address, announcing their presence to the homeowners.
The man appears shirtless and can be seen being handcuffed, before he is led out into a waiting police vehicle.

A 25-year-old Cleveland man – who was known to the child – was arrested on Monday morning.
He has been charged with a single count of murder and fronted Brisbane Magistrates Court.
Police investigations continue.
