While the season will look different to previous seasons, president Carolyn Cabassi said the association was hoping to give young players the chance to hit the field this year.

“We’re keen, the players are keen, our clubs are keen,” she said.

Four of the seven junior clubs are participating — Imperials, Tigers, Deanmill and Bridgetown — with the possibility for other teams to join the competition.

The competition will have three age groups playing — Year 4-5, Year 6-7 and Year 8-9, with the association also being supportive of Years 10 to 12 playing football this year.

Rather than the traditional home and away season, modified season rounds will be played at a single hub, with the each participating team hosting two rounds each.

The league’s committee is yet to decide on a model for finals, with the model adopted to depend on the COVID-19 restrictions in force at the time finals are due to be played.

The West Australian Football Commission and East Perth Football Club have both offered to help the association in conducting the league, with the WAFC offering logistical support and hand sanitiser and East Perth donating trophies for the season.
