Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma claimed a crucial away victory on Sunday afternoon as they fought their way past Northern City to move up to fifth spot on the ladder.

Coming into the match amid a form slump that has seen them pick up just four points in their last five games and facing the most gruelling time slot of a 3pm Sunday kick-off, the Reds were up against it to take something away from the road trip.

However, Northern City were coming off back-to-back losses as part of a difficult month including off-field drama as a brawl broke out in their clash against Sutherlands, which the league is still investigating.

With both teams looking to put a poor run behind them it was the Reds who first broke the deadlock through an unlikely source as Cameron Brown scored his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute.

Having conceded early goals in their past two matches it would have been a relief for La Fiamma to not have to chase the game early and they maintained the 1-0 advantage into the half.

The Reds then doubled their advantage at the 51st minute mark as Keegan Roos got his name on the scoresheet for the first time this season.

City rang the changes taking three substitutions in the 68th minute before springing a fourth just six minutes later but it made no difference as the Reds held firm to record their first clean sheet in four matches.

With other results falling their way this round the Reds moved up to fifth position just three points out of third place.

They will face Sutherlands Park FC this Saturday at 6pm.
