New fridge and oven for Wagin RSL thanks to $3367 successful Federal veteran wellbeing grant

Wagin RSL have earned thousands from a Federal Government grant to replace vital equipment in their clubhouse.

The branch, based at the Old Wagin Community Centre, were successful in receiving $3367 via the veteran wellbeing grants program, set up to fund ex-service groups with a broad range of supports to strengthen community connection.

The Wheatbelt branch was one of about 65 successful recipients to share in $3.5m funding from the Albanese Government, and one of only two in regional WA.

The cash will be used to replace dated kitchen equipment, primarily the fridge and oven, in the RSL.

Federal Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson congratulated the volunteers of the Wagin RSL for their dedication.

“Veteran organisations like the Wagin RSL play a vital role in supporting former servicemen and women, providing opportunities for connection, mateship and community engagement,” he said.

“This funding will help ensure local veterans can continue to access the support and activities that contribute to their health and wellbeing.

“Our veterans have given so much in service to our nation.

“It is important that we continue to support the organisations working on the ground to improve their wellbeing and keep them connected.”
