WA College of Agriculture Narrogin open day welcome almost 700 visitors for industry expos and class displays

Almost 700 visitors from across the State flocked to the WA College of Agriculture Narrogin for its esteemed open day that boasted displays, competitions, industry exhibitions and country hospitality.

The annual event showcased the college’s diverse programs with dedicated areas for farming, trades, classroom work, walking tours, and campus history, as well as enrolment and health and wellbeing information on September 12.

Farming features encompassed bus tours, student shearing and wool handling, with displays of fencing, machinery, poultry and cattle.

The special ‘Guess the weight of Winnie’ game, who is the college’s poddy calf, was a crowd favourite.

The college’s extensive trades area was bustling with interest as people explored engineering, furniture making, automotive and construction projects crafted by students.

Class areas were open exhibiting student work and science demonstrations.

With help from the Narrogin Restoration Group, restored vintage tractors and iconic vehicles were on show alongside college memorabilia in The Club Museum.

The yearly College P&C Fundraiser attracted fantastic prize donations from the community and raised vital funds for future school projects.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service were also supported by a gold coin donation for the provided all-day tea and coffee, morning tea, chef’s spit roast lamb and lunches.

College principal Clare Roser said she was thrilled to see such a great turnout.

“Open day is the perfect opportunity for families in the local and wider community to connect with staff and students, and to discover what makes our college so unique,” she said.

“The feedback has been amazing.”
