Police officers part of the Major Crash Investigation team have charged a man in Newman over a serious crash that occurred in town on March 2021.

Authorities will allege that around 9.25pm a Blue Mazda three was driving north along the Great Northern Highway, approximately 92km from Newman when it left the roadway and collided with a storm water drain.

A four-year-old and six-year old girl sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and were both flown to Perth Children’s hospital for treatment.

A 25-year old man, who was driving the vehicle, has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm.

He is expected to appear in Newman Magistrates Court tomorrow.
