Premier Mark McGowan has copped a brutal roasting for his strict border policy in the latest Australian lamb ad.

Meat and Livestock Australia’s adverts are renowned for their unforgiving take on Aussie humour and the first one for 2022 is no different - and this time our very own Premier is in the crosshairs.

The three-minute clip, entitled “The Lost Country of the Pacific” Australia is mocked for its isolation from the rest of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic

“There’s other countries!” says one woman.

Concerned the “rest of the world forgets about us”, the pair devise a plan to use barbecued lamb cutlets to entice international tourists back to Australia.

And, united by a barbecue, Australians, including Victorians wearing Oodies, are seen mingling with visitors for the first time.

“Backpackers! Thank God we don’t have to pick our own fruit anymore,” exclaim one delighted pair of grey nomads.

In the first blink-and-you’ll-miss-it dig at Western Australia, the Australian map is seen on a television without WA.

But the most cutting blow is left until the end.

The camera cuts to Mr McGowan’s office where he is studying his map of “the entire world”.

Except his world map includes only Western Australia - a reference to the Premier’s strict hard border policy which has seen him shut off the State from the rest of the country countless times during the pandemic.

“Perfect!” he says at the new map.

Following its release on Monday, the advert has been praised by social media users, who praised the creators for the final scene.
