Colin Barnett’s Liberal/National alliance won the State election with an overwhelming majority, but just months after that victory the State Government is under attack amid claims of broken promises and spiralling debt.


The loss of the State’s AAA credit rating has prompted the Premier to warn of asset sales and delays to key infrastructure projects.

The downgrade, by Standard & Poors, came with a warning that the Government was failing to show the necessary political will to bring down debt.

The Government has abandoned Budget revenue-raising measures including changes to the feed-in tariff change on solar rooftops, delayed a “school tax” on children of 457 visa workers and is facing outrage from teachers and parents over its education funding plans and job losses.
