Perth expected to hit 35C on Australia Day, 39C on Monday public holiday

Perth is set to heat up over the next few days with the temperature soaring to 39C on Monday’s public holiday.

Temperatures will stay in the 30s until Wednesday when the maximum is expected to be a milder 27C, and then 24C with a very small chance of rain on Thursday.

People heading to Australia Day events on Sunday are urged to stay hydrated as the maximum is expected to hit 35C and the UV will reach 13, which is considered ‘extreme’.

Perth’s Australia Day is expected to be the equal hottest in the country with Canberra also predicted to reach 35C.

The coolest place to be on Sunday is Hobart with just a 23C maximum predicted, followed by Melbourne, which is expected to reach 27C.

Perth recently came out of its hottest ever start to December, with five days over 35C in a row and less rainfall than the monthly average.
