VideoA pet dog has been rescued after falling down a 10 metre well in Sorrento.

A 15-year-old dog has cheated death after falling down a 10m bore well on Wednesday night.

Bailey plummeted down the concrete bore after venturing into a neighbouring building site just after 9pm while on a walk with owners in Sorrento.

Bailey’s owner Lee said he and his wife took her on a night walk before hearing a loud “thump” and realised she had walked off. Unable to rescue her themselves, the couple called 000.

“We put our torches on and went looking for her, that’s when we spotted her down the well,” he said.

“They sent out the fire brigade as well as a rope team just in case,” Lee said.

The Sorrento couple said the response time from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services was “amazing”.

“They were at our location really fast and they were so thoughtful and really good all round,” Lee said.

“They dropped a ladder down the well and pulled her out...the whole situation was done within an hour,” he said.

It took rescuers an hour to bring Bailey back to the surface. She was taken to the vet for a sore paw.
