WA Police have called on the public to find a man who may be able to help their investigation into fires around Ascot on Australia Day.

About 3pm, several fires were sparked in on a median strip on Grandstand Parade, behind Northerly Avenue.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called and the blazes were extinguished about 3.15pm, however, another small scrub fire was located on Garratt Road a short time later.

A cycle track runs past all these locations.

Investigators believe the man may be able to assist with their inquiries. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, shorts and white sneakers.

Any members of the public who were driving in the area between 3-4pm and have dash-cam vision of the area is asked to come forward.
