Police seek assistance following fatal hot rod test drive in Malaga

One man is dead and another in hospital after a hot rod vehicle crashed during a test drive in Perth's northern suburbs.

Two 59-year-old men were in the Ford hot rod in Malaga around 4.50pm when it left the road and struck a tree.

It is believed the vehicle was taken for test drive after the pair had been working on it earlier that day.

The driver, a Ballajura man, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be cut free by Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel.

It is believed the car was being taken out for a test drive before it crashed.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance, where he later died.

The passenger was also taken to Royal Perth Hospital for minor injuries.
