Police investigate house fire in Hackham West, Adelaide
A man has died and a woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a fire broke out at a home in Adelaide’s outer southern suburbs.
Emergency services raced to the fire on Amsterdam Rd in Hackham West just before 8.30am.
“Two occupants were inside the home at the time of the fire,” the police said on Saturday afternoon.
“Despite the efforts of fire fighters and paramedics, a 61-year-old man died at the scene.”
Paramedics took the woman to Flinders Medical Centre in a critical condition.
CIB detectives, forensic response investigators and fire cause investigators attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
The police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Amsterdam Road is closed near the scene of the fire and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
