A teenage driver is dead after his four-wheel-drive veered of the road and slammed into a tree and power pole north of Perth yesterday.

Police say the horror crash happened about 3.10pm on Gingin Brook Road at Muckenburra, about 75km north of the city.

The white Toyota Hilux was travelling east when it left the road and struck the tree and power pole. The crash caused a small scrub fire.

The 19-year-old driver, from Bakers Hill, died at the scene.

Major Crash investigators want to speak to anyone that witnessed the crash or the Toyota driving in the area.
