Goldfields workshops to help locals with transition to ServiceWA app

Goldfielders needing help to access the new ServiceWA app are encouraged to attend workshops in Coolgardie, Kambalda and Menzies this week.

The State Government this month launched the ServiceWA app — a mobile app that allows people to show proof of vaccination and to check in at businesses and venues.

It helps people access important COVID-19 information, including how to prepare your household for COVID-19, where to get tested, where to get vaccinated and exposure location sites.

The ServiceWA app requires the user to set up or use a digital Identity to create an account to prove who they are online.

Hosted by Kalgoorlie MLA Ali Kent and Mining and Pastoral MLC Kyle McGinn, the workshops aim to help people who are having trouble setting up the app, and to explain what to do if they cannot get proof online.

The Coolgardie workshop is on Monday from 10.30am to noon at Coolgardie Recreation Centre, and the Kambalda session is also on Monday at the Recreation Facility’s library from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Menzies Community Resource Centre will host a session on Tuesday from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Ms Kent said showing proof of vaccination to enter certain businesses and venues was an important public health and social measure that helped to protect the community against COVID-19.

“It is incredibly important that we do everything we can to encourage people to register for the app. It will be essential to people’s daily lives moving forward,” she said.

Mr McGinn said the app was a one-stop-shop that would make life easier come January 31 when proof of vaccination requirements were expanded.
