For Kalgoorlie-Boulder residents itching to put up their Halloween decorations and binge-watch horror movies, solving a “murder” in an immersive horror nightwalk across Kalgoorlie will be just the thing for them.

Nightwalk Immersive will host four sessions in September for horror lovers, with tickets unlocking co-ordinates where the immersive experience will begin.

Attendees should bring their fully charged, internet-enabled tablet or phone and look for the light of a candle set waiting for them nearby.

With headphones covering their ears, they will hear voices speaking to them out of the darkness, whispers, pleas and threats uncovering a murder.

“Along the path ahead, you will find the truth. The evidence is hidden, waiting for you to find it. But don’t worry, the voices will guide you to it. They’ll make sure you see what you need to see to make sense of the unthinkable,” the event description reads.

Production manager Dan Tyrrell said the walk was a unique and fully immersive journey into a dark story of haunting, deceit and murder.

Mr Tyrrell explained Nightwalk debuted during Halloween last year to provide audiences with entertainment that could comply with COVID restrictions, and has since been running across Australia and New Zealand.

“It is a horror-themed, interactive audio experience. Audiences will attend a location revealed at ticket purchase, and will attempt to discover the truth behind the sinister events that have taken place there,” he said.

“Audiences will be required to listen carefully as they traverse through the dark, and will need to gather clues and solve puzzles to advance throughout the night.”

Mr Tyrrell told the Kalgoorlie Miner the venues were picked to add to the “creepy factor”, and encourage people to explore a part of their hometown they either had not visited before, or to see a familiar place in a spookier light.

Audiences will need to provide their own device and headphones to access the audio content and bring a small torch along, with the self-guided walk beginning after being checked in by event staff.

“There is no other experience like this — it’s a psychological horror, and allowing yourself to be absorbed into the atmosphere, the music, the chilling story and haunting voices will keep you looking over your shoulders in the dark,” he said.

There are limited tickets available costing $42 each, with 20 tickets released for each session, which will take place from 8pm-9pm on September 9 and 10, and from 9pm and 10pm on the same nights.
