Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s library and community centre will light up in a spectrum of colour on Thursday in recognition of World Autism Day.

The William Grundt Memorial Library and Eastern Goldfields Community Centre will join more than 50 buildings and landmarks across WA supporting the Light Up The Spectrum trail.

World Autism Day marks the start of World Autism Month, during which the Autism Association of WA will host a range of initiatives for the community to get involved in, whether they are an individual with autism, a family member or friend, school, community group or workplace.

Chief executive Joan McKenna Kerr said the month was a time for the community to learn and grow together with the aim of making the community a place where all individuals with autism were empowered to thrive.

“We want to see that every child has a great start in life, is included in a positive way at school, and goes on as an adult to be a valued member of the workforce and the broader community,” she said.

“We encourage families and workplaces to join us by participating in an event in their community, as well as visiting the Light Up The Spectrum landmarks across regional and metro areas.”
