VideoRAC has today released its Risky Roads campaign scorecard, revealing almost half of the State’s most dangerous roads and intersections have no budget allocated to fix them.

The RAC has put the call-out to the public to help identify WA’s most dangerous roads and intersections.

The Risky Roads campaign, now in its fifth year, gives people the opportunity to voice their concerns to create change on WA roads.

RAC corporate affairs general manager Will Golsby said the campaign would help RAC advocate for lifesaving improvements.

“Western Australia consistently ranks as one of the nation’s worst when it comes to road fatalities and serious injuries,” he said.

“There is more than 187,000km of road in Western Australia and no one knows those roads better than the people who drive, ride, cycle or walk on them every day.

“Nominations are encouraged from all corners of the State, so whether a local street or major highway, if you know a road that’s unsafe, don’t just avoid it, nominate it.”

More than half of the 20 riskiest roads and intersections identified in the 2016 survey have had funding allocated for improvements.

Nominations close on December 17.
