The Rotary Beachside Festival at Safety Bay is back after it was brought to a screeching halt last year due to COVID-19.

The event — named corporate community event of the year by Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce — will once again feature four fun runs, food trucks, market stalls and carnival attractions for the young and young at heart on Sunday, March 14.

The festival’s new chairman Kevin Fahie said he had his “fingers crossed” for good weather, hoping for it to be cool in the morning with “little or no wind” for the long-distance runners.

Mr Fahie said the four races were an integral part of the festival — covering 2.5km, 5km, 10km and the 21km half-marathon.

“They have become popular with the metropolitan running community, partly because of the low entry fees and partly because of the beautiful course along the Safety Bay to Port Kennedy waterfront,” he said.

Local young musicians and more seasoned entertainers will perform for the crowds. There will also be craft and healthcare stalls, food trucks and classic cars on show.

“The committee has planned a great day with attractions for all the family,” Mr Fahie said.

“We hope the whole community turns out to enjoy the program and the foreshore.”

COVID-19 distancing requirements and sanitising stations will be in place.
