The number of exposure sites in the City of Rockingham has reached seven after four exposure sites in Waikiki were added to the list.

The State Government updated its list of exposure sites on Friday to include two local pharmacies, a Woolworths and a Jesters pie shop in the City of Rockingham area.

Visitors to Optimal Pharmacy Plus and Terry White Chemmart in Waikiki have been advised to get tested immediately and isolate until receiving a negative result.

The updated sites come after Premier Mark McGowan announced last Thursday the State would not be reopening as planned on February 5. It would instead be keeping its border and putting in place new arrangements for returning residents, health care workers and other approved travellers.

Mr McGowan said it would be “irresponsible and reckless for the State Government to ignore the facts and ignore the reality of the situation playing out on the east coast”.

“WA’s new Safe Transition Plan will begin to be implemented on February 5. However, the full border opening has been delayed,” he said.

“A decision on further easing of the new hard border controls will be made in the near future once the east coast has reached the peak of infection and we have a better understanding of the true impact of Omicron.”
