Another ride-share option for region

Popular ride-share platform, Didi, launched in Bunbury and Busselton earlier this week and Daniel Leung is among one of the first to register as a driver.

Mr Leung, who works as a full-time Uber driver and food delivery driver in Bunbury, says he joined Didi to earn extra income.

“I started my own business at the end of last year but COVID-19 hit me hard and I only had two days of work a week,” Mr Leung said. “To be a ride-share driver, it keeps me busy and allows me to earn some extra income.

“With ride-sharing platforms like Didi and Uber I am able to use my own personal car which is a big help.”

Despite yet another ride-sharing platform coming to Bunbury, Bunbury Taxis executive director Sue Davey said her company would continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing taxi services to everyone including those requiring wheelchair access.

“The fact that I still have a business that is able to operate after COVID-19 is just amazing,” she said.

“If we can get through a global pandemic we can get through another ride-sharing platforming coming to Bunbury.”
