Only way is up for Oilers

They might currently be on the bottom of the men’s A-grade standings, but the Dunsborough Oilers have shown plenty of endeavour over the past month.

Aside from a heavy 94-41 loss against the Bulls last Friday night, the Oilers showed against Tornadoes Black and Red that they have the ability to match it with some of the better teams in the league.

In the fourth of their five true “home” games of the campaign, they will welcome Aces Sky to the Naturaliste Community Centre tomorrow night.

Though making the finals looks out of reach, the Oilers still have an opportunity to cause some headaches down the stretch if they produce their best basketball for long enough.

But Aces Sky, who are vying with reigning champs Aces White for the final top four spot, will not be travelling down the Bussell Highway simply to make up the numbers.

Should Mitch Keller play, the visitors will have an influential big man who can start their night off in the right fashion, while the long-range ability of Jebh O’Donohue cannot be ignored.

This match looms as a great opportunity for Oilers youngsters Jack Flynn and Kelton Kemp — who have both had a taste of basketball at the next level — to have standout games against quality opposition.
