Street reopens in Brisbane CBD after suspicious item found

A busy street in the middle of Brisbane’s CBD was closed for several hours after a suspicious item was found outside a church.
The public was urged to avoid Ann Street between Queen and Boundary Sts in the city, Queensland Police say.
A suspicious item was located in the area about at 9.25am on Thursday.

The item was found outside St John’s Cathedral, the Courier Mail reports.

Sign upOccupants of nearby buildings were locked down, and told to stay inside.
However in an update on Thursday afternoon, police said specialist police revealed the item was non-suspicious.
Streets have now been reopened.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) units also attended the scene.
