Getting around the Swan Valley is now a lot easier following the introduction of a new ‘hop-on, hop-off’ bus service from Guildford.

The Swan Valley Explorer completed its first trip today to start a service which aims to boost visitor numbers and give locals a chance to get around the area without having to drive.

The service will run from Guildford Station every 30 minutes from Wednesday to Sunday, and every 90 minutes on Monday and Tuesday.

Departure times from the station will connect up with arriving and departing trains.

The hop on, hop off service takes in wineries, restaurants and tourist spots in the Swan Valley, including Caversham Wildlife Park.

The route includes 25 stops in a loop around West Swan Road, Great Northern Highway and Reid Highway.

The service is being run by Adams coachlines, with support from Destination Perth, the City of Swan and the Swan Valley Tourism Alliance.

"It's a fully commercial service, so the venues have contributed to what's called a bus stop commitment," Adams managing director Adam Barnard said.

The buses feature new technology, including a system that provides information about the region direct to passengers' smartphones after they've scanned a code near the door.

An all day adult ticket costs $20, while a family of up to five can travel for $50.

City of Swan residents can purchase an annual pass for $60.

There is also a new spur service running direct from the city to Whiteman Park daily.
