28th annual Karragullen Expo
What: Karragullen Expo
When: Saturday, October 15
Where: Old Station Road, Karragullen
The Karragullen Expo committee extends a warm welcome to the 30 new exhibitors that have registered to date. We would also like to acknowledge our regular exhibitors that have supported the expo year after year.
There are a number of exhibitors that have attended all 28 expos. The 2010 expo was a great success and judging by the early bookings of exhibitors we are very confident of a positive expo. We are hoping the weather gods are on our side and a forecast trend of 30 degrees should attract a large crowd.
I would like to thank the committee and members who volunteer their time in setting up the event.
The 2011 expo will cater to all the needs of commercial orchardists, hobby farmers, weekend enthusiasts and garden addicts.
The expo has attracted our usual eastern states exhibitors but we would like to welcome a new exhibitor in Colour Vision systems, which will be making its first appearance.
The 60 pavilion sites will feature fresh fruit and vegetable stalls, wine tasting and sales, organics, home-made conserves and craft stalls.
The main attraction in the pavilion will be a cooking demonstration by MasterChef finalist Arena Dunn, who will be on hand from 10am to 3.30pm. Arena will be cooking at 11am and at 1.30pm using local produce.
The Department of Agriculture and Food will have a presence on the oval at site 33. The focus will be on neglected orchards and fruit fly control. It will also be able to assist with questions about pests and diseases.
Sue McDougall from 6PR gardening show will be making her third appearance and will be able to answer your gardening questions from 1.30pm.
The Illawarra Heritage and Pickering Brook Heritage Society display will focus on the 120-year history of the Canning Mill region.
The highly successful Crunch&Sip will also be a major attraction on the oval. More than 1000 people visited this exhibit last year. There will be more than 600 free bags of fruit given to children and there will be an opportunity for children to make fruit kebabs.
There will also be a large assorted selection of fruit trees for sale at wholesale prices.
The day will conclude with our traditional pork and beef spit roast and a licensed bar facility.
