A luxury house in Claremont has surged in value by 34 per cent in just more than a year and a half.

The purchase was settled on July 15 for $4.1 million.

The sale of the 1063sqm property is a huge boon for seller Katy Johnson, who bought it on December 24, 2020, for $2.7m before selling it to David and Emma Ohana.

Mr Ohana has worked in the corporate world and driven initiatives for the UN. He currently directs marketing for Andrew and Nicola Forrest’s philanthropic entity, the Minderoo Foundation.

The surge from $2.7m to $4.1m means — without accounting for work done around the house — Ms Johnson and husband Adrian made $1.4m in 543 days, or $2578 per day.

The sale price also represents a recovery in the home’s value, which sold for $3.95m in March 2010.

The home’s architecture is reminiscent of mansions found in the Hamptons and features dormer windows, six bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a study.

Its open plan includes pine-clad ceiling and jarrah floors.

The Johnsons have moved to Peppermint Grove, with the sale of their new home going through for $2.8m on June 15.

Mr Johnson is a senior development consultant for Summit Homes.

According to RP Data the median house property in Claremont is $1.7m, with 119 properties sold in the past 12 months. The median value of homes has surged by 29.5 per cent in the past five years.
