Bunbury's community radio station is on the verge of hitting the airwaves, with its studio at Dalyellup College all set up and ready to broadcast.
All that remains is organising content and training on-air hosts and producers in the requirements of broadcasting live radio.
"We're champing at the bit to get started," Bunbury Community Radio board member and Dalyellup College principal Jeff Macnish said.
"There are lots of people who want to be broadcasting so we're just making sure there's enough training and preparation done because we don't want to put something to air if it's not at the right quality."
The board met with 13 interested announcers two weeks ago to gauge interest in the types of programs the station could broadcast.
Music from the 1960s on is expected to be played on the station, which will broadcast on the 103.7FM frequency and transmit throughout the Greater Bunbury area.
Mr Macnish said the 24-hour station was likely to take some feed from satellite but would focused on a diverse range of programs broadcast direct from its studio.
Bunbury Community Radio is located at Dalyellup College's former student services building and will include two studios and production space.
The station will also provide opportunities to the school's media studies students in areas such as broadcasting, production and advertising.
Funding for the station has come from various sources, including State and local governments plus South West businesses.
