WA girl dies after horrific quad bike crash in Jarrahdale State Forest near Nettleton Road

UPDATED: A nine-year-old girl has died in a horrific quad bike crash in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, southeast of Perth. It is understood the child was a passenger on the off-road bike which was being ridden along a trail in Langford Park in Jarrahdale when it rolled shortly after 5pm on Saturday. Police say the girl was thrown from the bike and died at the scene. A 34-year-old male rider was taken to Armadale Hospital with minor injuries. A St John WA spokeswoman confirmed triple-0 was called about 5.20pm, and four emergency crews were sent to the crash near Nettleton Road. The death comes after two boys were seriously injured after being involved in a quad bike crash in Swan View in April. The two boys, one aged 15 and the other believed to be 13, are understood to have been on a quad bike together when they crashed into a tree on Morrison Road. Witnesses said the boys were not wearing helmets. Also in April, a 42-year-old man riding a quad bike in the dunes in Breton Bay died after crashing. In April 2019 a seven-year-old boy died when his quad bike crashed in Dingup, near Manjimup. His death came after a 17-year-old boy died in the Great Southern in December after a rollover. Safe Work said one in seven fatal quad bike crashes involved children under 16. Officers from the major crash investigation section are seeking information about the Jarrahdale crash and have urged anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone vision relating to the crash to upload it here.
