Sam Fisher drug charges: WA pair charged as part of operation that saw arrest of former AFL star

A Perth man and woman have both been charged over trafficking significant amounts of drugs and more than $100,000 in cash, alleged to be linked with an illegal drug operation involving former AFL player Sam Fisher. WA detectives from the drug and firearm squad charged a 34-year-old Perth man and a 27-year-old Applecross woman with several drug-related offences following a major search warrant at a Northbridge home on April 21. The police investigation, titled Operation Kingston Bullion, targeted the trafficking of drugs and cash between WA and Victoria, alleged to be linked with former St Kilda football player Sam Fisher who was also charged over the same incident. On April 20, detectives attended Perth Airport and seized an outgoing package containing $129,000 allegedly bound for a Melbourne address. The package had come from a home in Applecross. Later on that April evening, detectives attended the airport again and seized another package this time coming from Melbourne. It contained about 1kg of methylamphetamine and 84g of cocaine concealed inside a kitchen appliance. The Perth man has been charged with conspiring to possess a trafficable quantity of meth with intent to sell or supply, attempt to possess prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply and laundering property or money from proceeds of major offence. He has also been charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug. The Applecross woman will face charges of possessing a prohibited weapon, four counts of possessing a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply. She has also been charged with unlawfully possessing a prescription drug, possessing drug paraphernalia and possessing stolen property. On Wednesday it was reported that Fisher was charged with several drug-related offences after police seized methylamphetamine, 1,4-Butanediol — a precursor drug of GHB — and a Mercedes-Benz alleged to be proceeds of crime. Police will allege the drugs were being hidden in a kitchen appliance with the same circumstances relating to the Perth pair. The 39-year-old from the south-east Melbourne suburb of Sandringham played 288 games for St Kilda from 2004 to 2016. Following the joint WA and VIC operation, Victoria Police Detective Inspector Craig Darlow said the discovery was a “remarkable result”. The 34-year-old Perth man is set to front Perth Magistrates Court on Friday. The woman is due to appear in court on June 7.
