Scarborough police charge man with 30 stealing offences in Innaloo along with drugs and weapons charges

Scarborough police have charged a man with more than 30 offences after an investigation into the theft of personal items from vehicles parked in Innaloo. Police allege the man forced entry into vehicles while they were parked on the street or in driveways, damaging them in the process. On Friday, June 7, police went to a home on Morris Road in Innaloo and arrested a 35-year-old male occupant. After a search of the home, police allegedly located and seized a large number of identification documents, along with laptops, sporting goods, bags and other personal items. The man was charged with 24 counts of possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property, possession of a prohibited drug (cannabis) and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with unlawfully possessing a controlled weapon or prescription drug, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a controlled weapon, having ready access to both weapon and illegal drugs and escaping from lawful custody. He is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on June 21. Scarborough police officer-in-charge Haydn Farrow said local law enforcement would continue to provide high visible policing in the area and had already started reuniting people with their stolen possessions. “When your personal items are stolen, it can be quite a distressing time. Having to contact banks and cancel other personal accounts can cause some disruption to your life,” he said. “This arrest was down to good investigative police work and the recovery of many of the stolen property items is even more rewarding. “As the officer in charge of Scarborough police station, I am extremely proud of all the Scarborough police team who worked together in achieving this fantastic result.” The arrest comes four months after Snr Sgt Farrow told PerthNow vehicle theft had risen particularly in Innaloo. WA Police said the arrest was a reminder to the community to be vigilant when parking vehicles on the street overnight or for long periods.
