Six kilos of meth, cash and guns seized by drug and firearms squad across Perth in recent raids and searches

Millions of dollars worth of drugs, a huge haul of cash and powerful firearms have been seized by police following a fresh wave of search warrants across Perth in recent days. Detectives say the warrants form part of an ongoing investigation into crime gangs targeting WA with “illicit commodities.” The investigation - led by the drug and firearms squad - has so far led to the seizure of eight guns, six kilograms of methylamphetamine and $235,000 in cash. A portion of jewellery has also been recovered as part of the investigation which is now being examined. Police say key to their investigation was a Mercedes truck which was pulled over on Tuesday in Midvale, east of Perth. The truck, which had two men inside, had been driven into WA via Eucla the same day. That traffic stop prompted police to pull over several other vehicles on Tuesday and in the days following and saw officers carry out further search warrants at numerous homes across Perth. That resulted in the seizure of the drugs, firearms, and cash. So far six people have been arrested and charged with various firearm, drug and money laundering offences. Among those charged are the two men in the truck, who are aged 26 and 38. They’ve each been charged with two counts of sold or supplied, or offered to sell or supply, a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine. Two other men aged 37 and 40 have each been charged with a number of offences including possessing a trafficable quantity of methylamphetamine with intent to sell or supply it to another. One of the accused was arrested in dramatic fashion on Thursday night after he scaled a fence and fled from officers. He was eventually arrested after a lengthy foot chase. Detective Superintendent John Hutchison, of the Serious and organised crime division, said he anticipated further charges. “This is a significant seizure by WA Police,” he said. “It is always pleasing for us to be able to take firearms and drugs off the streets while seizing the profits from alleged drug dealers.”
