VideoWA has again struck lotto gold, this time with one lucky player picking up the entire $30 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

A syndicate of eight golfing buddies have been revealed as the winners of Tuesday night’s life-changing $30 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The group of mates — who formed a syndicate while playing golf together in Perth’s northern suburbs — spent the night celebrating after some of them initially thought they were the butt of a joke.

One of the ticket holders was enjoying a roast beef dinner with his wife when he checked the ticket — a Slikpik 50 which had been purchased online.

“I started calling the rest of the group to tell them we’d won,” he said.

“One of the guys didn’t believe me and went back to eating his dinner.

“Another group member told me that if it were a prank he would come over and I’d be in a lot of trouble.”

One of the winners said he couldn’t wait to upgrade his car after having it since he was on his P plates.

The friends made it into the Lotterywest office on Wednesday morning after a big night of celebrating.

They shared plans of paying off mortgages and overseas holidays.

“They celebrated most of last night so they had a quick nap this morning before coming into Lotterywest,” Lotterywest spokeswoman Sarah Dawson said on Wednesday after the winners collected their prize.

“They were very excited when they came in but there were lots of long pauses to let the news sink in.

“There were some tears too.”

The $30 million draw was the 29th Division One win in WA for 2023 with all the winners sharing in almost $115 million.

More than $4.23 million was raised for WA community groups over the five-week OZ Lotto jackpot roll.

Lotterywest chief executive Ralph Addis said it had been an incredible start to the year.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome yet another big win for WA, only a few weeks after celebrating a Swan Valley family taking home $40 million in Powerball,” he said.

The winner of that mammoth jackpot in March had unknowingly walked around with the winning ticket in his pocket for a week.

He bought the ticket, a Slikpik 18, from Springs News in Bennett Springs just an hour before the draw closed as a last-minute decision.

The father treated his family to fish and chips for dinner after the colossal win.

“I was in complete disbelief and shock when the retailer explained I had the winning ticket,” he said at the time.

“We’re a tight family and will share the win together, making sure our kids and grandkids are looked after.”

The next chance for WA players to win big is Thursday’s $30 million Powerball draw.
