Wireless Hill bushfire: WA Police appeal to public for information on ‘suspicious’ Perth bushfire
Arson squad investigators are looking into the cause of the Wireless Hill bushfire, which is now being treated as suspicious.
They are urging anyone who may have seen any suspicious persons, or has any information or footage to come forward.
The bushfire which raged through Wireless Park on Saturday is still burning, but was contained by firefighters on Sunday morning.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services confirmed at 10.50am on Sunday that the alert level for the fire has been downgraded but asked people to continue to avoid the area.
“There is no threat to lives or homes,” the alert said.
The blaze has already burned more than 10.5 hectares of land and caused disruption across many local roads including Lilian Avenue, Helen Street, Troy Street, Collier Street, Links Road, Almondbury Road, Davey Street Barnard Street and Francis Road, as well as within Wireless Hill Park.
Firefighters remain in the area and locals have been told to keep doors and windows closed to keep out smoke, and turn off evaporative air conditioners.
Drivers are advised to turn on headlights, reduce speed, watch for emergency personnel, and follow all directions.
If visibility becomes poor drivers should safely pull over, keep headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until conditions improve.
The incident was reported at 3.09pm on Saturday November 8, and at 6.30pm the fire was stationary and controlled, but not contained.
