Dockers fans lining the streets of Fremantle are set to get wet as a growing group of grey clouds threaten to let loose just after bounce down.
Thousands of fans have covered every inch of Freo’s beloved Cappuccino Strip as the city comes together for what’s hoped to be the club’s maiden flag.
Fans were not letting the forecast keep them away, camping out as early as 6am to secure front-row seats along the strip, while lines wrapped around several blocks as punters scrambled to get a spot inside overflowing venues.
Temperatures set to hover around 17C but will feel a lot cooler thanks to the wind and scattered showers.
As of 11am, 17C was feeling like 11C, according to the Bureau of Meteorology, as wind gusts up to 35km/h were sending chills through the Freo faithful.
Up to 5mm of rain is expected to fall across the metropolitan area on Saturday, down from 8mm forecast by BOM on Friday.
It’s nothing the raft of Purple Army scarves and beanies can’t handle, however, with Dockers devotees set to see Saturday’s Grand Final through, rain, wind or shine.
The same can be said for those who made the pilgrimage to the MCG, with rain already blanketing the city in typical Melbourne fashion.
Up to 9mm of rain is expected to pour on the Victorian city by the afternoon, with the wet weather set to ease by the evening.
Fans were seen already drenched as the first quarter began, following a lively – but very wet – performance from Kylie Minogue.
A downpour is expected between 1pm and 3pm AEST, just as the grand final draws to its pinnacle.
