VideoThe weather forecast for Perth and the rest of the country.

Where the bloody hell did summer go? Just days after we basked in the hottest day since March, wet weather has put a dampener on any Sunday beach plans.

Some areas of Perth copped up to 13mm of rain between 9am and 1pm today in the biggest downpour in almost two months.

Lawns in the Perth Hills have had the biggest watering so far, copping 13mm of rain while the city was bucketed with 10.2mm.

In the Swan Valley, 8.6mm of rain fell in the gauge, while Jandakot and the southern suburbs saw 9.4mm.

Geraldton received an 11.2mm downpour, while the South West has so far remained relatively unscathed with just 1.2mm in Bridgetown and 2.8mm in Collie.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Darryl Vink said, while Perth had seen the worst of the rain, it’s still not safe to hang the washing out.

“We’ve still got a bit more to come from the rain band on the west coast,” he told PerthNow.

“It’s slowly moving to the south east, leaving behind a shower of two, while going into Monday there’s still a chance of a shower.”

Meanwhile, regional WA is still set to see the worst of it, with the central Wheatbelt and Great Southern set to cop a drenching this afternoon and evening.

Thunderstorms rumbling through the Goldfields are expected to continue into tomorrow, bringing heavy rain. And tomorrow, Perth will still have the chance of a shower.

Today’s rain dump comes just two days after Perth soaked up temperatures of up to 36.6 degrees Celsius in the hottest day since March 26. By lunchtime today, the mercury had barely nudged above 17C.

Tonight, air-conditioners in Perth will get a rest as the temperature drops to a minimum of 13C, while it is forecast to reach just 21C tomorrow and Tuesday.

But next weekend the balmy temperatures are forecast to return, with up to 33C expected by the end of the week.
