Perth’s sunny weather is about to come to an end, with showers sweeping across the city and the south-west of WA later today and tonight.

There is even the chance of a thunderstorm, which could bring up to 10mm of rain.

The Weather Bureau said there would be another “good drenching” for the south-western parts of the State as winter-like conditions pushed spring aside.

The wonderful light breezes that have accompanied the sunshine will also disappear, with wind gusts expected to reach up to 30km/h tonight and worsen tomorrow, when more rain will hit the State and possible hail near the south coast.

It will also bring a dip in daytime temperatures, with today’s 21C in Perth giving way to a chilly 15C tomorrow and just 17C on Friday before warming up again on Saturday (19C) and Sunday (21C).

But the cloud cover will give some respite from the cold morning starts, with the overnight minimum predicted to be 11C.

Intermittent showers will continue into the weekend before the sun returns big time, with a glorious 25C on Monday and 28C on Tuesday.

It comes after the mercury hit a balmy 28.4C on September 7 — making it Perth’s warmest day since April 28 when the temperature reached 29.7C.

But even Tuesday’s forecast 28C is a long way off the warmest day ever recorded in September — a scorching 34.2C on September 20, 2014.
