Perth continues to achieve rare weather milestones in 2025, this time beating its rainfall average for four months in a row — the first time for 18 years.

The city reached its September rainfall average of 79.3mm this week, with showers up to Friday bringing the total to 95.8mm.

It is the first time it has happened in the winter-spring period since 2007, Weatherzone reported.

It comes after Perth beat its long-term average rainfall for every winter month of June, July and August for the first time since 1996.

In June, Perth had 129.8mm of rain, with the long-term average being 127.2mm.

In July, it had 174.4mm. The long-term average, taken from Bureau of Meteorology’s Mt Lawley site since 1993, is 147.8mm.

In August, the city was drenched in 203.8mm of rain, comfortably dwarfing the average of 122.7mm.

Perth topped its total winter rainfall average for the months of June, July and August combined in 2024 but not separately. June was below average.

The rare feats come as Perth is about to heat up, with the mercury tipped to hit 30C next week.

In fact, the weekend looks glorious, with 23C forecast for Saturday ahead of 26C on Sunday.

And it only gets better from there, with Monday reaching 28C before 29C on Tuesday and a magnificent 30C on Wednesday.

It cools down again by next Friday, when rain may return and the maximum dips to 22C.
