WA weather: Perth braces for week-long heat blast as temps climb into the mid 30s

Perth is staring down another hot and dry week with temperatures sitting firmly in the 30s and little relief in sight — especially for inland suburbs.
The Bureau of Meteorology says the mercury will climb steadily across the next seven days, with clear skies, warm nights and scorching afternoons locking in classic February conditions.
While the coast may cop a late sea breeze, inland suburbs are set to feel the heat hardest, with areas including Midland, Ellenbrook, Armadale, Canning Vale, Thornlie and Gosnells expected to push into the mid-30s across the weekend.
Sustained heat is expected particularly inland, with parts of WA already sweltering through severe heatwave conditions.
BoM says UV levels will be extreme, warning Perth locals to take sun safety seriously, especially with students returning to school earlier this week.
Friday will bring sunshine and temperatures climbing into the mid-30s across much of the metro area, before a late Fremantle sea breeze offers some relief for coastal suburbs like Scarborough, Cottesloe and Fremantle.
The heat will intensify over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday forecast to be hot and dry.
Sunday is shaping up as one of the hottest days of the week, with inland areas such as Baldivis, Byford and Ellenbrook pushing close to 35C.
The hot spell is expected to roll into the new week, with Monday tipped to reach 35C, while Tuesday may bring a slight breeze but temperatures will remain in the low 30s across suburbs including Joondalup, Morley and Victoria Park.
Across the state, residents in the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and North Interior will endure heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring into the 40s.
