Police have charged the son of dual international Wendell Sailor with domestic violence and fraud offences.

Jackson Watson, 23, was arrested on Friday night in Sydney’s south following an investigation into allegations made by a 24-year-old woman in August.

Mr Watson, the love child of rugby league and union great Sailor, has been charged with common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical or mental harm and make false document to obtain financial advantage.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was himself a talented footballer and represented an Australian representative Indigenous side in his teens, alongside his half-brother Tristan Sailor.

NSW Police said in a statement police began an investigation on August 30 after a woman made a “report alleging she had been assaulted and defrauded by a man known to her”.

“Following inquiries, about 4.20pm on Friday 15 October 2021, police attended a unit on The Kingsway at Caringbah, where they arrested a 23-year-old man,” police said.

“He was taken to Kogarah police station, where he was charged with common assault (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm and make false document to obtain financial advantage.”
