Controversial influencer Clavicular has been charged for allegedly shooting an alligator in the US while livestreaming.

Clavicular, whose real name is Braden Eric Peters, is best known for his “looksmaxxing” content online, where the 20-year-old attempts to teach his followers to improve their physical appearance using extreme methods.

On March 26, he visited the Everglades Wildlife Management Area in Florida with a group of friends while livestreaming for his 300,000 followers on platform Kick.

Charges filed on March 29 relate to an incident caught on video during that visit, where Mr Peters can be seen standing at the front of a boat and firing a dozen bullets at an alligator.

It is believed the animal was already dead at the time.

In the hours after the livestream was broadcast, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said on X that they were “aware of a video depicting individuals in the Everglades on an airboat who appear to be discharging firearms at an alligator” and it was being investigated.

He and two others were charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm in a public place or residential property.

A lawyer for Mr Peters, Jeffrey Neiman, said the 20-year-old was “following the instructions of a licensed airboat guide”, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Mr Neiman added that the influencer “relied on that guidance” and “no animals or people were harmed”.

The maximum penalty for the crime is one year in jail and a $US1000 fine ($1,387.07).

Mr Peters made headlines earlier this year after appearing to suffer from an overdose while livestreaming from a bar.
