Tyler Robinson: Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer spotted with transgender partner weeks before Utah shooting
Alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, was seen with his transgender partner weeks before he shot conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was shot in the neck and killed at a Utah university rally in front of thousands of people on Wednesday, before Robinson was taken into custody after reportedly telling his father he committed the murder.
Robinson, 22, had been living with his transgender lover after moving out of his parents home recently according to reports in The Sun.
The FBI has been interviewing Robinson’s partner who is believed to be cooperating fully as authorities try to piece together the motive behind the horrific incident.
Robinson’s neighbour Josh Kemp, 18, confirmed the alleged gunman was in a relationship with his roommate who he described as “weird”.
“I saw them holding hands. They drove off in Tyler’s car. It was about two weeks ago,” Mr Kemp said.
“They looked like they were a couple and he was dressed all in black.
“I thought he was weird because of the way he walked and I’ve never seen anyone dressed like that. He was wearing a mask.
“I believed he was transitioning because I heard them talking about a doctor’s appointment.”
As investigators swarmed Robinson’s new residence, images released show his apartment complex includes a hot tub, swimming pool, fitness centre, walking trails and is close to his family home.
The FBI now have a raft of messages via various social media platforms and have confirmed that communications from a contact named “Tyler” were revealed from a “roommate”.
Robinson was studying and was in his third year of an electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College while living at home in St George, Utah.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox and US President Donald Trump announced to the world on Friday that authorities arrested the alleged murderer.
“We got him”, Governor Cox told a media conference.
Robinson is believed to have told his father that he was responsible for Mr Kirk’s death and his parents then contacted their pastor who spoke to the Washington County sheriff’s office.
Governor Cox confirmed on Friday that the family told investigators Robinson had become more political recently and had spoken in a disparaging manner about Charlie Kirk.
“On the evening of September 11th a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend who reached out to Washington County Sheriff’s office with information that Robinson had confessed to them, or implied that he had had committed the incident,” Governor Cox confirmed.
“The FBI identified Robinson arriving on UVU campus in a grey Dodge Challenger at approximately 8.29am on September 10th in which he is observed on video wearing a plain maroon t-shirt, light coloured shorts, a black hat with a white logo and light coloured shoes.”
Robinson was taken into custody on Thursday night, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed at the same press conference, and authorities have released mugshots of the alleged assassin.
Kirk, a close ally of US President Donald Trump, was killed by a single bullet as he spoke onstage at an outdoor amphitheatre at Utah Valley University.
