One Nation has revealed for the first time its stance on negative gearing and capital gains tax, with Pauline Hanson making the announcement.
Senator Hanson announced on social media that One Nation supports negative gearing, however, with limits.
“One Nation supports negative gearing being allowed on 2 homes for everyone,” Senator Hanson said on X.
The announcement comes after mass backlash aimed at the Albanese Government’s May Budget, which introduced controversial changes to the system — something Labor promised not to do at the last Federal election.
Under Labor’s new rules, new negative gearing arrangements will only be possible on new builds, not existing properties, however, current arrangements would be grandfathered.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Treasurer Jim Chalmers claim the broken election promise will level the playing field for younger Australians, something Senator Hanson does see eye-to-eye with.
“The Labor government claims to be helping the younger generation, yet they’re taking away an investment strategy that has been used by generations before them,” Senator Hanson added in her announcement.

One Nation’s stance would still tackle Labor’s war on investors who have multiple properties negatively geared. However, it would allow all Australians to continue to take advantage of the scheme, which set so many up for a life of financial stability.
As for changes to capital gains tax discounts, Senator Hanson said One Nation were completely opposed to Labor’s controversial move.
“We completely oppose the changes to CGT,” she bluntly stated.
The One Nation leader’s post certainly got people talking online.
“Spot on, love this. Tinkering with negative gearing and CGT just makes it tougher for everyday Aussies to get a foot in the door,” one person wrote on X.
They questioned Senator Hanson further, asking, “What’s the first change you’d push for to help young buyers?”, to which she replied: “End mass migration.”
Others who claimed to support One Nation were not on board with Senator Hanson’s proposed negative gearing policy with restrictions.
“This is the only policy I disagree. Negative gearing for existing houses should be abolished including the grandfathering that can go over time progressively. Keep it for new builds to increase supply,” one person commented.
The announcement comes as the Labor Party faces a challenge from the Coalition over the tax changes, with Liberal Tim Wilson on Wednesday promising to use “maximum leverage” against the Albanese Government to slow or block policy passing.
While Labor and the Coalition go head-to-head on the issue, One Nation has also faced questioning over policy, or lack thereof.
It’s spurred a prompt response from Senator Hanson, whose One Nation website now carries information about the party’s stance on 28 policy categories, including: family tax, free speech, water, housing, climate, cost of living, farming, foreign ownership, immigration, firearms ownership, Medicare “rorts” and medical cannabis.
