Harper Banfield AFL draft profile: Stats, player comparison and scouting notes

The West Australian’s draft profile series has all the information you need on the State’s leading hopefuls to be picked up by an AFL club later this month. Here, we look at Claremont on-baller Harper Banfield. Club: Claremont From: Cottesloe JFC Date of birth: 18/12/2008 (age 18) Height: 181cm Weight: 73kg Position: Inside midfielder Expected draft range: Late national draft/early rookie draft 2026 averages: 18.5 disposals, 2.0 tackles, 0.5 goals (WAFL league) AFL player comparison: Sam Berry Strengths: Ball-winning, endurance Question mark: Size Josh Kempton says: After West Coast opted not to match St Kilda’s bid on Charlie Banfield — the son of two-time premiership hero Drew — last year, the Eagles will have a chance to snare another of his sons in this year’s draft. Banfield is smaller and may not be quite as dynamic as his older brother but stands out with how clean and competitive he is at the contest, and he regularly showed off those traits for WA throughout the under-18 national championships. As it stands, West Coast may be too tight for list spots to snare him, but a mooted trade of what is anticipated to be two picks falling inside the 20s for a future selection could create space.
