AFL finals: Punters share frustration at long Optus Stadium lines for food, drink
Angry Perth footy fans have taken to social media to slam big delays getting food and drink at Optus Stadium on Friday night.
Fresh from being announced as the host of Perth’s historic first ever AFL grand final, punters weren’t impressed with the wait times for food at the semi final between Geelong and GWS.
With just over 44,000 fans at Optus Stadium on Friday night, below the 60,000 capacity, footy fans were angered by the big delays.
“Optus Stadium time to shine and they are stuffing it up big time. You’ve got a week to get twice as many staff as tonight cause this is a joke. Sort it out quick,” one angry fan posted.
“Was no better at the Indigenous game when it was sold out. GF will be a disaster. Stadium great facilities awful,” another footy fan said.
“So bad!! Never seen lines like it!! Could be an embarrassment come AFLGF it’s a bit sad really, 1st crack at hosting finals too,” one punter posted.
“Optus Stadium cue for food 2 quarters long,” another said.
“You’d want to clean your catering act up before the prelims & AFLGF,” someone wrote.
Some fans reported waiting more than 40 minutes in a queue to get food and said it was at least a 15-minute wait for beverages in a separate line.
It is unclear whether the final being an AFL-run event rather than an Optus Stadium-run event contributed to the delays.
