Bailey Smith has been left hiding his face after fellow AFL star Josh Daicos took aim at the Geelong star’s mirror selfie saga.

Smith was sitting alongside Daicos at a promotional event for Barry’s Drinks when the Collingwood star decided to bring up the controversy that has followed Smith for the last two weeks.

“A few mirror selfies from Baz today,” Daicos told the crowd, before adding: “He’s been practising lately.”

The comment was enough to send Smith into hiding, with the 25-year-old putting his face in his hand and closing his eyes as Daicos delivered the punchline.

The moment was captured on video and shared by Barry’s Drinks, with the brand appearing to lean into the ongoing joke surrounding Smith’s dating life.

The video was posted with the caption: “Mirror mirror on the wall. Who takes the fairest mirror selfie of them all.”

One social media user commented “shots fired”.

It comes just weeks after Smith found himself at the centre of a bizarre social media dating saga involving multiple women, matching outfits and, most importantly, the same mirror.

The Geelong star was accused of seeing multiple women at the same time after Sydney woman Tahlia Thornton posted a TikTok claiming she was dating Smith.

The situation escalated when Ms Thornton said she discovered another woman, Mia, had posted a photo with Smith in the exact same location and outfit.

The apparent coincidence was particularly striking because Smith had also been photographed with Ms Thornton in front of the same mirror just hours earlier.

Ms Thornton subsequently shared screenshots and details of the alleged relationship online, claiming Smith had told her he was “planning his future” with her while allegedly making similar promises to other women.

The saga quickly spread across social media, with users debating whether Smith had actually done anything wrong given there was no indication he was in an exclusive relationship with anyone.

Smith, rather than attempting to shut down the speculation, appeared to embrace the chaos.

The AFL star posted a photo of himself recreating the now-famous mirror selfie, this time alongside St Kilda star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera.

He also asked his Instagram followers for “date night recs pls”, prompting a string of jokes about the saga.

One follower suggested places with no mirrors, to which Smith replied: “Fair shout.”

Smith appeared more than happy to play along with the growing meme.

Now, his Barry’s Drinks teammates have joined in.

Daicos’ dig is particularly fitting given the pair are not simply AFL teammates and friends.

Smith, Josh Daicos, Nick Daicos and Carlton star Charlie Curnow are among the AFL players behind Barry’s Drinks, which launched in 2023.

The brand sells low-sugar, low-carb spirit-based seltzers and has increasingly used the players’ personalities and friendships as part of its promotional content.

In the latest video, Daicos is speaking into a microphone in front of an audience while Smith sits beside him.

Smith’s reaction of dropping his head into his hand and closing his eyes, suggests he knew exactly what Daicos was referring to.

While the allegations surrounding his dating life have largely played out across TikTok and Instagram, the AFL star has repeatedly responded with humour rather than directly addressing every claim.
