Although Fremantle’s grand final heartbreak may prove very tough to get over, Jye Amiss could not have picked a more idyllic place to try and come to grips with what might have been.

Earlier this week, the Dockers full-forward took to social media to announce he would be taking his four-wheel drive on a trip through the State’s north over the next few weeks.

And he will be documenting the journey on a newly-launched Instagram account dedicated to his greatest off-field passion — a fully kitted-out Toyota LandCrusier 76 Series.

The rig favoured by Amiss rolls off the lot at a minimum price of around $75,000, and the 23-year-old might well have come close to matching that investment in the litany of upgrades he has plumped for since.

As well as the more standard additions such as a snorkel, bullbar, rooftop tent plus improved tyres, wheels and seats, he’s also enhanced everything down to the armrests and speaker pods.

And he’s not short of places to keep all the gear he needs to tackle the outdoors, with his storage set-up optimised by an intricate set of drawers.

In his Instagram post launching the account, which he has titled ‘The76beyond’ — and has already ticked up to nearly 10,000 followers — Amiss said he was keen to give his followers a glimpse inside his life off the football field.

“I’ve always loved my car and probably spend way too much time thinking about it,” wrote Amiss, who grew up in Busselton in the State’s South West.

“For me, it’s not just about the car itself, but it’s the drives, getting out on the road, getting away for a few days, finding new places, and all the random adventures that come with it.

“Footy will always be a huge part of my life, but this is just a bit more of me outside of that. (I’m) not really sure where it’ll end up, but keen to see what comes of it.”

Plenty of Amiss’ Fremantle connections took to the comments of the post to show their support for his new venture.

“Bartos and his beast,” commented his fellow key forward Pat Voss, while winger Neil Erasmus wrote: “Here we go”.

The club’s ruck coach Sam Naismith — who joined Amiss on a camping trip during the pre-finals bye — appeared to make a clear Russell Coight reference in saying: “It’s time to hit the road”.

On Thursday, Amiss posted a video giving his followers an insight into his packing process, suggesting his adventure may well have begun.

In creating the account, Amiss has joined the growing ranks of AFL players with social media side hustles — including his superstar teammate Luke Jackson, who in August launched a coffee and clothing brand christened ‘Good Unicorn’ in a nod to one of his nicknames.

Gold Coast star Christian Petracca is the leader in the burgeoning space, promoting healthy recipes to the nearly 600,000 Instagram followers he boasts on his ‘On Trac’ venture.
