GWS interim coach Mark McVeigh has handed Jacob Wehr his debut and recalled Jesse Hogan among seven inclusions for Sunday's AFL clash with West Coast.

Form, injury and illness have forced McVeigh's hand as he seeks to turn the Giants' (2-7) season around, having taken the reins from Leon Cameron.

All-Australian duo Lachie Whitfield (ankle) and Nick Haynes (illness) are sidelined, as are Finn Callaghan (shoulder) and Conor Stone (hamstring).

Lachie Keeffe, Cooper Hamilton and Matt de Boer have been dropped.

Tanner Bruhn, Bobby Hill, Zach Sproule and James Peatling have also been recalled to the starting 22.

Undermanned West Coast (1-8) are last on the ladder but have regained some experience, with captain Luke Shuey and wingman Andrew Gaff back in action.

Liam Ryan (suspended), Luke Foley (concussion) and Sam Petrevski-Seton (virus protocols) are out of the side that was flogged by Melbourne last week.

Like GWS, Collingwood have made a raft of changes for their trip west to face Fremantle on Sunday, with Jamie Elliott, Scott Pendlebury, Mason Cox, Jack Ginnivan and Nathan Murphy all going into the side.

The Dockers have regained spearhead Matt Taberner, Michael Walters and Sam Switkowski.

Hawthorn have brought back star midfielder Tom Mitchell and dashing defender Changkuoth Jiath for their clash with Brisbane in Launceston on Sunday.

Jack Gunston is out with an ankle injury and out-of-form midfielder James Worpel has been dropped, while key defender Marcus Adams (virus protocols) is out of the Lions' side.

There have been two late changes to the teams for Saturday' nights Dreamtime fixture, with Richmond midfielder Jack Graham (toe) and Essendon defender Jordan Ridley (virus protocols) both sidelined.

They have been replaced by Jack Ross and Tom Cutler respectively.

Melbourne have lost Jack Viney to a minor hamstring issue, with Luke Dunstan called up to take his place in the team against North Melbourne on Saturday.
