The Eagles have cut their squad to face North Melbourne on Monday, with six changes made to the side demolished by Sydney.

Liam Ryan returns from suspension while Andrew Gaff has overcome the hand injury that forced him out of the embarrassing 92-point loss last weekend.

Luke Edwards, Nathan Vardy and Luke Foley have been dropped.

Injured trio Jack Redden (knee), Alex Witherden (groin) and Jamaine Jones (foot) won’t feature against the Roos at Optus Stadium.

Last week’s medical sub Jack Petruccelle has been promoted to the starting side while dropped duo Jackson Nelson and Josh Rotham have also been recalled.

The duo had played every game of 2021 before they were axed for round 16.

Brendon Ah Chee returns to the Eagles line up from the bench, leaving Vardy, Edwards, O’Neill and Foley as the emergencies.

Three of those four — Vardy, O’Neill and Foley — played in Saturday’s West Coast WAFL side after being dropped.

Also turning out in West Coast’s WAFL team were Isiah Winder, Zane Trew, Bailey Williams, Brayden Ainsworth, Mark Hutchings, Connor West, Callum Jamieson and Jake Waterman.

One player who won’t feature for the Eagles’ is Jarrod Brander after the utility injured his back at training this week.

Brander will miss at least two weeks after scans today confirmed he suffered a lower back strain.

He had played nine of the first 11 games of the season before he was dropped.
